The Vidant North Hospital Development Council, formerly known as Halifax Regional Foundation, recently received a donation of $2,500 from The Ladies of the Lake Organization.

The donation will be used to support a Cancer Care Fund, which assists with the transportation needs of cancer patients throughout the community.

The fund also assists qualifying patients with meals and other travel expenses following their appointments.

The Cancer Care Fund was started in 2015 and has touched the lives of hundreds of cancer patients since its launch.

The Ladies of the Lake organization raises money year round to support this fund by hosting fundraising events such as home tours, bunko and other events around Lake Gaston.

Participating providers and clinics collaborating with the Cancer Care Fund project include Vidant North Hospital Development Council, Vidant North Mammography, Dr. Sorensen of Vidant Radiation Oncology, Dr. Huffman of Vidant Cancer Care Clinic-Roanoke Rapids, Dr. Rajan of Sai Urology, and Dr. Ketoff of Vidant General Surgery-Roanoke Rapids.

The Vidant North Hospital Development Council continuously seeks to build relationships with community and business partners interested in participating in programs to further the work of the Development Council’s fundraising and education efforts.
