A shooting late Tuesday night in the 200 block of Franklin Street appears to be related to one of the other shootings the Roanoke Rapids Police Department continues to investigate, Chief Bobby Martin said.

Multiple rounds were fired into the house around 11:15 p.m. while the dwelling was occupied, Martin said. There were no injuries.

Martin said the apparent motive of the shootings is previous disputes between the parties involved. “This is absolutely ridiculous,” he said. “There seems to be no respect for human life to just unload into a house. We could have had multiple people with injuries.”

Martin said investigators have an idea on who the intended target was but declined to elaborate.

Anyone with information on this shooting or the others which have occurred are encouraged to call the police department at 252-533-2810 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.

In an unrelated matter, Martin reported that around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday Sergeant J. Horne was traveling in the area of South Rosemary when he noticed a vehicle with no registration.

The driver was identified as Brandy Griffin, 35, from the Littleton area.

Through further investigation a small bag of a clear crystal substance was located on the driver, which is believed to be crystal methamphetamine.

The search also revealed a small piece of plastic with the same crystal residue on it as well.

Griffin was placed under arrest and carried before a magistrate. She was charged with possession of schedule I controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

She received a $1,000 secured bond and July 23 court date.

Martin said 1.10 grams of meth were seized.
