The Halifax County Health Department will begin COVID-19 vaccinations every Thursday beginning May 6.

Health Director Bruce Robistow said this afternoon, “Demand is minimal right now. There are multiple providers throughout the week to include Rural Health Group and DrugCo Pharmacy. We understand demand is down but we strongly encourage people to get vaccinated as soon as possible.”

Robistow said the department is opening up the vaccine to 10 people a day 

Time of the Thursday clinics at the health department is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The health department is located at 19 North Dobbs Street in Halifax.

Daily reports  

Today the health department added two new positive cases of COVID-19 to its data, bringing the cumulative number of positives since March of last year to 5,486. There have been 109 related deaths.

In Northampton County the health department reported today there have been 1,819 total positive cases of which 1,733 have recovered. There are 17 active cases. There have been 69 related deaths.
