Christina Wells has been named senior management analyst for Halifax County.

County Manager Tony Brown made the announcement in a statement this morning.

Wells replaces Ian Bumgarner, who departed Halifax County in March.

She was selected from a qualified pool of applicants and emerged as the top candidate after a rigorous interview and selection process, Brown said.

Wells has spent the last seven years with the Lake Gaston Regional Chamber of Commerce serving as the president and CEO.

Prior to her employment with the chamber of commerce, she served as the director of tourism development and marketing with the Halifax County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Wells obtained her bachelor’s degree in English with a concentration in communications from Meredith College. She also holds a certificate in nonprofit management from Duke University.

“I am looking forward to Christina joining our team,” Brown said. “Her extensive background and familiarity with the Roanoke Valley makes her a great fit for the county’s needs.”

Her first day with Halifax County is June 1.

She was born and raised in Halifax County, and currently resides in Halifax with her family.
