A Roanoke Rapids man died in a single-vehicle crash on Thelma Road Saturday afternoon, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Sergeant A.S. Genao said, according to a preliminary report by Trooper W.H. Wheeler, Steven Bryan Potter was driving a motorcycle shortly before 1:15 p.m. when he ran off the road to the right.

Potter, 60, collided with a guardrail and was ejected. He and the motorcycle came to rest over the guardrail and down an embankment.

Genao said contributing factors in the crash are undetermined as the matter is still under investigation.

The crash occurred 4.6 miles west of Roanoke Rapids and .7 miles east of State Road 1424.
