Two Halifax County men have been charged in separate cases involving indecent liberties with children.

Chief Deputy Scott Hall of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office declined this afternoon to release specifics on either cases, such as the genders and ages of the victims.

He said both men charged were familiar with the victims but declined to elaborate on the relationships.

In one case a Halifax man was charged with three counts of indecent liberties with a juvenile as well as the same number of counts of statutory sex offense.

Douglas Sylvester Roberson, 65, was jailed on $300,000 bond and has a June 5 court date, according to a statement by Hall.

On April 8 a report was received which said on March 28 and for the past two years Roberson inappropriately touched a juvenile victim.

After an investigation by Detective R.B. Biggerstaff, warrants were obtained on Roberson for three counts of indecent liberties with a juvenile and three counts of statutory sex offense by an adult.

Roberson was arrested at his residence by Deputy K. Smith on May 11.

He has a June 5 court date.

Second case

On March 6 a juvenile reported on March 2 they were inappropriately touched by an adult. Through an investigation by Biggerstaff, a warrant was obtained on Carlton Lee Davis 63, of Weldon, for indecent liberties with a child.

Davis was arrested on May 13 and posted bond.

Davis has a July 17 court date.
