The Elizabeth Montfort Ashe Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution the DAR America 250 Commendation Medal and Certificate to the Halifax County Semiquincentennial Committee.

Michael Wray is the chair of the committee.

The DAR America 250 Commendation Medal and Certificate are awarded to non-member individuals or groups who have made outstanding contributions to preserving the legacy of the American Revolution. 

Recipients are recognized for their dedication to honoring Revolutionary War patriots, educating the public, and raising community awareness during America’s 250th Anniversary. 

Freda Coleman, regent of the chapter, said the Halifax County committee was recognized because of its “amazing work and dedication to educating the community and celebrating the history of Halifax County and its significance in North Carolina being first in freedom” and its efforts in celebrating America’s 250th with all citizens.
