The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday arrested and charged a Roanoke Rapids man for an armed robbery that occurred in August.
Captain Ashley Collier said Jeremy Russell Currin, 48, was served warrants for felony robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony larceny of a firearm, and felony possession of a firearm by a felon.
eCourts documents show that Currin allegedly possessed an AR-15-style weapon after he had pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine in 2023 in Franklin County.

For the robbery and the larceny of a firearm, the warrant says that Currin reportedly threatened the use of the weapon on a victim and took $2,200 in cash, a Kimber Eclipse 1911 .45-caliber handgun, and a flip phone.
Collier said the charges stemmed from an investigation conducted by Lieutenant M. Deloatch that began on August 31 when the victim was robbed. Deloatch obtained the warrants on September 16.
Currin was taken into custody by Lieutenant W. Whitley, Sergeant A. Johnson, and Deputy A. Burgess. He has a January 8 district court date in Northampton County.
“I commend Lieutenant Deloatch for gathering enough evidence to charge Mr. Currin in this case,” Sheriff Jack Smith said. “I commend our deputies for locating Mr. Currin and taking him into custody without incident.”
