The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reported the following, according to Major Anzell Harris:

Deputy J. Morales was patrolling the South Weldon area around 1 this morning when he observed a motor vehicle violation.

Morales initiated a stop in a hotel parking lot on Highway 301.

During the investigation, the deputy detected the odor of alcohol coming from the driver, identified as Quinta Lamarr Neville, 36, of Halifax.

During the stop, Neville attempted to provide his twin brother's name to deputies to pass off as his own.

The warrant filed in eCourts says that Neville also gave his brother’s social security number when stopped for DWI to avoid legal consequences.

A report by Trooper J.J. Lynch of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol says that Neville was operating a vehicle carelessly and heedlessly in willful and wanton disregard of the rights and safety of others.

Lynch’s report says he drove carelessly and recklessly while his license was revoked and that he failed to operate the vehicle within a single lane of Highway 301.

Lynch charged Neville with DWI, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane control, and driving while license revoked.

Morales additionally charged Neville with identity theft, resist/delay/obstruct, and providing fictitious information to an officer.

Neville remains in the Halifax County Detention as of this report on a $3,000 secured bond. He has a January 22 district court date.
