Roanoke Valley law enforcement reported the following:

Roanoke Rapids Police Department

The department is investigating a felony larceny that occurred at a business on Premier Boulevard on Saturday around 7:45 p.m.

Lieutenant Morgan Worrell said two people stole over $2,000 in currency.

On Friday, around 5 p.m., Deputy D. Bybee conducted an enforcement stop near Zoo Road and West Tenth Street in Roanoke Rapids for a violation.

The driver was identified as Kelvin Clayton, 26, from the Littleton area.

Clayton was found to have an outstanding probation violation warrant.

During a probable cause search, Bybee located marijuana, marijuana drug paraphernalia, and a concealed handgun. The handgun was found behind the glove box compartment.

Major Anzell Harris said Clayton is a convicted felon with a pending charge for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Clayton was arrested and charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, simple possession of marijuana, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

He has a September 25 district court date.
