An economic development professional will lead a free, hourlong virtual presentation to share information about the role of renewable energy in creating and growing healthy economic development within a community.

The Center for Energy Education will host a free webinar called Empowering Communities: Economic Development — Thursday, August 28, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

The webinar features Lee Lewellen and his talk will examine strategies and activities that integrate clean energy into public policy.

Lewellen, strategic facilitator and expert on the dynamics of consensus building, has managed complex projects involving multiple individuals, institutions and media in more than 30 Indiana counties. He holds a master’s degree in sociology from Ball State University and is a graduate of the Institutes for Organizational Management and the Community Foundations Institute.

“Renewable energy projects in our communities offer significant economic mobility and workforce development opportunities in NC’s rural areas,” said C4EE Executive Director Mozine Lowe. “Please join us to learn the strategies that align energy goals with economic growth, the opportunity to strengthen and diversify its energy mix with clean energy in a way that creates jobs and helps lead us toward cleaner air and water in the future.”

The webinar is free and open to the public.

The discussion will include time to ask questions and engage with Lewellen after the presentation.
