A man who the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office says was in possession of child sex abuse material requested a probable cause hearing through his attorney.
Franklin L. Jones Jr., who is representing 23-year-old Jeremy Allen Limer filed the demand for a probable cause hearing today, according to eCourts records.
Limer is charged with five counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and three counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, Major Anzell Harris said in a statement.
Arrest warrants filed through the eCourts system show Limer allegedly had visual depictions of children from 16 to 12 engaged in sexual activity.
Harris said on May 1 the sheriff’s office received a cybertip from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation Cyber Crimes Unit that someone in the county was in possession of child sexual abuse material.
During the investigation led by Detective Sergeant C. Watkins with assistance by Homeland Security a search warrant was served in the Roanoke Rapids area and evidence was seized.
Additional search warrants were executed and a suspect was developed.
Limer, of Roanoke Rapids, was found to be in possession of child sexual abuse material, the sherrif’s office said.
Watkins arrested and charged Limer on the counts Thursday.
He received a $150,000 secured bond and an August 28 district court date.
