Roanoke Valley law enforcement reported the following:
Drug search warrants
A man with pending court dates in both district and superior was charged again Tuesday after drug agents received a tip in December which culminated in raids at his reputed trap house in the Roanoke Rapids area and his physical address in Halifax.
Alphonso Williams Jr. was detained on Pheasant Drive off Highway 48 when he was observed running in the front yard and throwing something in a burn barrel. He was observed pouring lighter fluid in the barrel in an attempt to destroy evidence, according to Major Anzell Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

The Pheasant Drive location was where he maintained a trap house.
The Pheasant Drive raid by the Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force occurred around 8 p.m. and the John Street raid in Halifax occurred around 10 p.m.
The raids were in response to Crimestoppers tips in the Pheasant Drive area.
During the search of both properties, agents located illegal narcotics and items used to package illegal narcotics.
Williams was arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances, simple possession of a schedule VI controlled substance, felony destruction of evidence and possession of marijuana drug paraphernalia.
Williams, who has a January superior court date for numerous drug charges as well as a weapon charge and an October district court date for marijuana charges, was no longer listed in Halifax County Detention Center records after a first appearance today.
Harris said this raid was the third different one at a residence belonging to Williams since July of last year.
After coming in contact with agents, Williams always moves his operation to a new location, Harris said.
Shooting investigation
Harris reported at approximately 6 p.m. on Tuesday deputies responded to a residence in the 400 block of Airbase Road following a call a man had been shot.
Deputies found the man lying on the kitchen floor holding pressure to his neck. He was conscious and alert.
An initial investigation shows the victim was showing a woman at the residence how to use a recently purchased firearm.
Harris said it appears the woman removed the magazine from the weapon but did not clear the live round from the chamber before handling the weapon in a manner that caused it to discharge.
The victim was transported to a medical facility and may require some surgery but appears to be in fair condition at this time.
This case is still under investigation pending a follow up interview with the victim.
Lieutenant R. Elder, Deputy D. Bybee, Corporal J. Valez, Deputy I. Miller, Lieutenant S. Casey and Agent K. Taylor quickly responded, Harris said, and provided vital assistance to Detective A. Holland and Crime Scene Technician J. Horne.
DWI charge
Lieutenant Morgan Worrell of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported that on Monday Traffic Officer M. Morris conducted a stop on West Second near Franklin Street for a vehicle displaying an expired registration plate and an inspection violation.
The driver was identified as Janet Harrison of Roanoke Rapids.
