The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reported the following:

Outstanding OFA

On Wednesday Community Action Team Sergeant D. Harrison was stationary at Dickens Avenue and Highway 158 when he observed a vehicle pass by displaying a fictitious registration plate.

Harrison conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and learned the driver — Terrance Faulcon of Littleton — had an outstanding order for arrest.

Harrison arrested Faulcon, 46, and suspected further criminal activity was afoot. He requested assistance from the Roanoke Rapids Police Department.

RRPD Officer K. Williams and her dog Melix conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle, which gave a positive alert for the odor of narcotics.

Harrison searched the vehicle and located a folded up $20 that contained a white powdery substance in the purse belonging to the rear passenger, Lasonya Artis, 41, of Littleton.

Artis was arrested and charged with felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance and received a $5,000 bond with a March 27, district court date.

Faulcon was served with the outstanding order for arrest and received a $750 bond with an April 30 court date.

Faulcon had missed his court date in August 2024 for several driving and motor vehicle related charges.

Deputy D. Bybee assisted.

Foot chase

On Wednesday CAT Sergeant G. Martin was conducting traffic enforcement on Branch Avenue near Matthews Street when he observed a motor vehicle violation.

Martin initiated a vehicle stop and spoke with the occupants. During the stop, the passenger — Terrance Brown — gave a false name.

Martin detected the strong odor of marijuana which led to a search of the vehicle.

Martin requested both occupants to exit the vehicle, Brown began walking away from the traffic stop. Martin began giving multiple verbal commands to Brown, who refused.

Brown began running from Martin but was apprehended following a brief foot chase.

During the search of the vehicle, marijuana and drug paraphernalia was seized.

Brown was charged with resisting a public officer, possession of a schedule VI controlled substance, identity theft and served with outstanding warrants for felony larceny by employee and possession of stolen property.

Brown received a $10,500 secured bond and remains in custody. He has a March 27 district court date.
