Halifax Community College, in collaboration with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina and the North East North Carolina Nurse-Family Partnership at HCC, will host a Founder's Week Picnic and Wellness Fair on Wednesday, September 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., as part of its annual Founder's Week celebration.
The event will bring together local families, vendors, and healthcare professionals for a day of community engagement, wellness services, and fun.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina is providing support for the event, which aims to improve health outcomes across Warren, Halifax, and Northampton counties.
The fair will feature participation from local vendors, HCC departments — including the School of Nursing, Dental Hygiene, and Dental Assisting programs as well as the Division of Student Affairs — and a wide array of community partners .
Free resources will be available to individuals facing financial hardship or in need, including:
Blood pressure monitors
Car seats
“This is more than just a picnic — it’s an opportunity to support the health and wellbeing of our community while celebrating the mission and legacy of Halifax Community College,” said Dr. Patrena B. Elliott, president of HCC.
Guests can expect food trucks, games, activities, and a relaxed setting perfect for families and friends to enjoy.
The event reflects HCC’s ongoing commitment to community partnership and accessible health education.
