Halifax County government and Halifax County Cooperative Extension have set the date for the 2024 Harvest Days festival.

Harvest Days will be held at the 4-H Rural Life Center at 13763 Highway 903.

The dates are Friday, October 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for 4th and 5th grade students — in any of the county’s public, charter, private or home schools — and Saturday, October 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“This year we are marking the beginning of the 250th celebrations of the founding of our nation,” said Halifax County Extension Director Beth Burchell. “Halifax County is proud to be the site of the first official act taken by any colony to move for independence from England — the Halifax Resolves — and it is only fitting that Halifax County’s signature event pays homage to the anniversary of the Halifax Resolves, our country’s quest for freedom, and the diverse cultural and historical landscape of our county.”

Harvest Days will celebrate the world of agriculture, featuring farm animals, antique tractors, hay wagon rides, the agricultural museum, and educational exhibits, as well as local vendors selling festival food and arts and crafts.

There will be entertainment throughout the day on Saturday, including the headliner The Feature Attraction Band which will perform from noon to 2 p.m.

Food and arts and crafts vendors are now being accepted with a reasonable vendor fee.
