Steven Nicolau, 76, of Conway, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024 at his home with his loving family by his side.

Steve was born on January 9, 1948 to the late Manuel R. Nicolau and Helen Bullard Nicolau and was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, and brother, David Nicolau.

Steve is survived by his son, Scott Dussault; his sister and close friend, Margaret (Maggi) Huliew, brother-in-law Vicktor Huliew, sister Millie Colacicco; step-daughters Lisa Hogan and Darlene Adams; grandson Jordan Dussault; three great grandchildren and one more great grandchild on the way. He is also survived by many close friends who will miss him dearly.

Steve served his country in the U.S. Air Force with an honorable discharge. He retired after many years with the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, Virginia where he met a great many friends.

Steve was a great animal lover and was always surrounded by his many cats and dogs. He was also a strong advocate for charities involving children, veterans, and, of course, animals.

He was an avid knife collector and loved to share stories and knives with friends and family.

He was considered a man’s man who welcomed and accepted everyone with open arms. He will be sorely missed by everyone who had the privilege to know him.
