A Halifax County detention officer was relieved of his duties following an investigation which led to an embezzlement charge.
Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Scott Hall said in a statement on September 29 Corey Lamingo Dixon Jr., 23, of Edward, was charged with embezzlement.
The charge is the result of an investigation into Dixon allegedly attempting to commit larceny of currency from an inmate during their confinement in the Halifax County Detention Center.
The currency was recovered.
Dixon has an October 17 court date pending.
