Sting nabs sex offender using social media

An undercover sting Tuesday landed a sex offender in trouble with the law after arranging a meeting with someone he believed was to be a girl.

A Pleasant Hill man who law enforcement said laid in wait and held a victim against her will for approximately six hours Wednesday faces a rape charge.

Whitemore charged in Fishel death

Marquise Jarvis Whitmore was arrested today and will face a second-degree murder charge as well others in the December 20 death of Leslie Fishel.

A dog stolen in January has been returned to its owner and a man was charged today for the crime.

A 58-year-old Roanoke Rapids man was charged today for taking indecent liberties with a 13-year-old girl last month.
