Moody sentencing moved to February

Sterling Moody, who was arrested in a 2013 DEA sting, will face sentencing on February 9 in Greenville.

As a key court date in the lawsuit against the Halifax County Board of Commissioners nears, the Coalition for Education and Economic Security and the Halifax County Branch of the NAACP are encouraging the general public to attend a hearing on the matter.

Briefs filed Wednesday in Halifax County Civil Court show the county will argue five points in its attempts to dismiss a lawsuit seeking to unify its three school districts.

Man charged in multiple break-ins

A Roanoke Rapids man arrested Tuesday faces multiple breaking and entering charges in different cases.

The former Carolina Crossroads outdoor amphitheater site could see a change in usage following consideration by the city's planning board and subsequent deliberation by city council.

Evidence of possible dog-fighting was found this morning during a City County Drug Task Force raid in Weldon.

One Operation Rockfish defendant claimed ties to the KGB and Russian mafia while another allegedly brought his young children to a meeting of a drug trafficking organization and one allegedly met with members of the organization while working off-duty at a local high school.
