Handguns stolen from Roanoke Rapids and Henderson were seized this afternoon following the execution of a search warrant in the West Eleventh Street area of South Weldon.

Narcotics agents with the Halifax County Sheriff's Office also confiscated 16 bags of marijuana from the residence, according to a statement from Captain Anzell Harris.

The search warrant, which was based on several citizen complaints and investigation led by Agent D.C. Dickens, was executed shortly after 12:30 p.m.

Dickens charged Derrick Lamont Shearin, 33, with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, maintaining a dwelling to keep a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and two counts of possession of a stolen firearm.

Shearin was jailed on $25,000 secured bond and assigned a January 7 court date.

Street value of the weed is $80 and Dickens continues to investigate.
