Police seek two in purse-snatching attempt

Roanoke Rapids police are looking for two men in an attempted purse-snatching that occurred inside Walmart the evening of November 25.

The robbery was thwarted by a person Detective Frankie Griffin described as a Good Samaritan who tackled them.

He said the man tried to keep the men on the floor but they were able to get away. The victim got her purse back.

One of the men came in the store with his face covered with a ski mask. The other had his hood drawn. They both wore gloves.

One of the men appeared much taller than the other, standing 5-feet, 10-inches to 6-feet, 1-inch tall. The other was approximately 5-feet, 6-inches tall.
