Woman found on Simmons St. identified

A woman found dead in the area of Simmons and Craig streets has been identified as a 45-year-old Roanoke Rapids resident.

Belinda Kaye Beckett's body was taken was from one location to the location she was found, which was in the general area where she lived, Halifax County Sheriff Wes Tripp said this morning.

Amanuel Harrison, 46, who Tripp described as an acquaintance of Beckett ,was charged Thursday night with felony conceal or fail to report a death. He was jailed on $12,000 secured bond.

 

The cause of Beckett's death is still pending a toxicology report. Autopsy results revealed no foul play, Tripp said.
