The Northampton County Sheriff's Office is seeing the onset of meth production in the county.

While there was no evidence of a working lab, three people in Pendleton area were arrested after investigation, the issuance of a search warrant and testing of substances found.

Captain Chuck Hasty said there is suspicion to believe the meth was made using a method called shake and bake, in which it is made in soda bottles.

On Monday, the sheriff's office arrested Rachel Dawn O’Dell Bisbing, 43; Lawrence James Grant 43; and Cody Grant Beaumont, 21. They are all of the Pendleton near Murfreesboro.

The arrests were the result of investigation that ended with the issuance of search warrant for Grant's residence on Pineridge Lane, which is off Vaughan's Creek Road.

Information was passed on to Hasty by Captain Will Liverman of the Hertford County Sheriff's Office that meth was possibly being produced at the residence.

On September 19 the state Bureau of Investigation was contacted to assist in the search warrant issuance because of the dangers meth production presents.

During the search, which also included assistance from probation and parole officers, the team found drugs, paraphernalia and guns.

After testing of the substances found the following charges were made:

• Bisbing, who is an alleged meth user, faces counts of possession of schedule II, possession of Schedule IV, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She had a $3,000 bond and was given a Thursday court date.

• Grant faces counts of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was given a $1,000 bond and a November 6 court date.

• Beaumont faces a count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was given a $500 bond and November 6 court date.

Hasty said based on information the sheriff's office received, alleged production of meth has been ongoing for several months. “We're seeing meth, not as much as heroin, but it's out there. Some of the intelligence shows smurfs are out buying or stealing cold medicine and stuff like that.”

Sheriff Jack Smith said in a statement he was pleased with the help from Hertford County. “When we share information between agencies we can combat the illegal drug trade and use in our county. I thank Captain Will Liverman for sharing the information that he received to help us in this matter.”
