Man obtains debit cards with victim info

The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office has filed felony warrants on a Roanoke Rapids man for allegedly using a victim's personal information to obtain two debit cards.

Detective Chris Scott charged Glen Douglas Patterson, 49, with two counts of obtain property by false pretenses and two counts of identity theft.

Patterson was found to have allegedly made financial transactions using another person’s identifying information, such as their name, date of birth, and Social Security number.

Patterson knew the victim, Scott said. It was unclear the dollar amount of items reportedly purchased with the cards.

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department arrested Patterson on April 23, and he was given a $5,000 bond. He has a May 28 court date.
