Yancey charged in RRSB heist

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department today formally charged Athena Lau Yancey in the April 9 robbery of Roanoke Rapids Savings Bank.

Captain O.L. Morgan said this evening Roanoke Rapids investigators are still trying to determine whether her alleged Camden County accomplice, Jesse Lee Baker, will be charged.

Detective Bobby Martin charged Yancey, 31, with robbery with a dangerous weapon after a joint investigation with the Camden County Sheriff's Office and the FBI.

She has a May 28 court date in Halifax County.
