The chase began after Roanoke Rapids police received a shoplifting call from Walmart around 2:30 p.m.
Officer Josh Langley responded and observed a vehicle on Fourth Street and followed it, attempting to stop it on Old Farm Road.
The driver of the vehicle, Joseph Price, 57, of Littleton, reportedly ignored the blue light and siren and sped off, leading the police department on a chase that went all the way through Highway 4 in the Airlie area and ended on AgriJohn Road.
The state Highway Patrol reported Roanoke Rapids requested assistance, and that multiple units caught up with them on Airlie Road.
