The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a white panel van that may have been involved in an attempted church break-in Friday morning.

Detective J.M. Clark said nothing was taken, but the air conditioning unit was tampered with.

The sheriff's office responded to an alarm activation call at Walnut Grove Baptist Church outside Roanoke Rapids on Highway 903 in the Five Points area around 1 a.m.

An attempt was made to break into the church. While responding, deputies observed a white panel van traveling east on Highway 903 away from the church. The van, which could not be located, carried Virginia tags.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the sheriff’s office at 252-583-8201 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
