Police investigate Hibbett B&E

Roanoke Rapids police are investigating a break-in at Hibbett Sports that occurred around 1 this morning.

Officer J. Salmon was patrolling the area in Premier Boulevard when he observed a person he described as a black male running away from the business. The alleged suspect wore a black hooded coat and faded blue jeans.

Salmon's report noted it appeared he was carrying several objects.

Salmon attempted to chase the man on foot but lost him in the wooded area behind Belk.

A canine track led to Nelson Drive, where detectives continue to investigate.

A cinder block was used to gain entry to the store.
