Halifax baseball earns a road win

Halifax Academy Vikings varsity baseball traveled to Kerr Vance Thursday.

Kerr Vance took early 2-0 lead in 1st inning. The Viking bats heated up in top of the 3rd inning with Matthew Wray starting things off with a lead off single followed by a Luke Blackman single. Collin Smith was walked to load the bases. Andrew Bryant hit a deep fly to center that was caught, but Wray was able to tag up and score.

 

Halifax kept the hits coming in the 4th inning when Bradley Myrick singled and advanced to 2nd when the outfielder bobbled the ball. Luke Blackman singled and also advanced on a bobbled ball scoring Myrick. Collin Smith was hit by pitch and Andrew Bryant came up with a big double scoring Collin. Luke scored on a passed ball.

 

Kerr Vance tied the game at 4 in the bottom of the 7th inning. This was the 2nd game this week the Vikings went into the top of the 7th tied. This time the Viking bats would not let the team down. Vikings scored 4 runs off hits by Ryan Mizelle, Luke Blackman, 2 walks, 1 hit batter and a great bunt by Tyler Jomo.

 

 

Luke Blackman pitched the whole game picking up the win and led the team in hits tonight with 2 singles and 2 doubles and 3 RBI's. Matthew Wray had a single and an RBI, Andrew Bryant a double and 2 RBI's, Ryan Mizelle 2 singles and Bradley Myrick a single
