The beating occurred shortly before 8:30 p.m. when the victim was jumped at the Carolina Inn on Jackson Street and assaulted in the head and face.
The victim was taken to Halifax Regional Medical Center and then flown to another facility for treatment.
The report does not indicate whether weapons were used or what the motive was.
