Man sought in March 2 robbery attempt

A man who allegedly attempted, but never carried through with an armed robbery at a Hollister convenience store, is wanted by the Halifax County Sheriff's Office and may be in New York.

Detective Chris Scott said the attempted robbery occurred March 2 when James Anthony Palmer allegedly put a gun to the back of a clerk at Journigan's Food Store but without any money.

His last known address was 1127 Lynch Road in Hollister. He also frequents the Rocky Mount area, and the latest information received is that he may be in New York. Scott said it was not immediately clear where in New York he may be.

He has been entered as a wanted person in national criminal databases.
