For the fifth race of the 2014 season, Emporia VA native Elliott Sadler will climb behind the wheel of the No. 11 Sport Clips Toyota for his first of six races this season with the sports-themed haircutting franchise. The start will also mark Sadler’s 10th NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) 5:00 PM EST start at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California. In his previous nine starts at the two-mile track, Sadler has earned two top-five finishes, five top-10 finishes, has led 60 laps and completed 99.2 percent of laps attempted (1,339 of 1,350). His average NNS start at the track is 15.1 and average finish is 14.6 with his best finish being dual fifth-place finishes (1999 and 2011). Sadler’s only win at the track came in 2004 in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series when he started the race 17th and led 59 laps on his way to Victory Lane.
“After a tough race last weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway, this No. 11 team is really looking forward to heading to Auto Club Speedway’,” said Sadler. “It is a track that I have had some success at, so we are looking to unload quickly and pick up some speed. I scored a win in the Sprint Cup Series in 2004 at Fontana in the first-ever night race, so I have some good memories,” he added. “Also Sport Clips will be on the Toyota this weekend, and it’s an honor to have them back this year. They are a great partner, and we hope to bring them to Victory Lane this weekend.”
After four races of the 2014 season, Elliott Sadler is currently fifth in the NASCAR Nationwide Series Driver Point Standings, 16 points out of first.
