Weldon police continue to investigate a cutting and shooting that occurred around 7:30 a.m. Sunday.

Captain James Avens said the matter was over pit bulls owned by John Ausby, who was shot with a shotgun, allegedly by Dellegrue Bell, who Ausby allegedly cut during the argument.

Avens declined to elaborate on the matter as it is still under investigation and no charges have been filed.

Bell was treated and released from Halifax Regional Medical Center and Ausby was transported to another facility for further treatment.

The argument between the two men occurred at the Third Street apartments.
