Trooper J.C. Daniel of the state Highway Patrol noted in an initial report that Ron Tito Hendricks, 34, was driving west on the road, which is located between Enfield and Highway 48 in the Ringwood community.
Hendricks, driving a Nissan Altima, was just coming off a curve at an estimated 70 miles per hour when he ran off the road to the right shortly after 8:30 p.m.
He overcorrected and the car veered to the left and struck a utility pole.
The impact ejected Hendricks, who died at the scene. The car caught fire and was consumed. Hendricks was ejected before the car caught fire.
Alcohol use is suspected.
