A $1 million Ruby Red 7’s scratch-off ticket purchased in Roanoke Rapids was claimed Tuesday, the North Carolina Education Lottery confirmed in a statement today.

Nieve Caballero told lottery officials her godmother gave her the ticket, which was purchased at Bobby’s Number 2 on Bolling Road.
Accompanied by her godmother, she chose the lump sum of $600,000 — $417,012 after federal and state taxes — instead of the $1 million annuity which has 20 payments of $50,000 a year.
