The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is currently looking for two sex offenders who have failed to register change of addresses.

Three others have been arrested over the course of the last month, a statement by Chief Deputy Scott Hall shows.
Sheriff Wes Tripp says the arrest of the three and the entering of the two — Robert Lee McManus and Roderick Ervin Johnson — into national criminal databases as wanted persons is a testament the system works.
“We have sex offenders assigned per deputy and along with the work Lieutenant (Chris) Scott does, the offenders especially don’t like the double checks. That’s why it’s working,” Tripp said today. “They’re (the civil division) doing an outstanding job. They’re also responsible for pistol permits to buy and conceal and in house in charge of the DCI system.”
The system works, Scott said. “It’s been working well. We’re staying on top of them. It keeps it more thorough. It’s been a very good system.”
Wanted
Currently, the sheriff’s office is seeking the whereabouts of McManus for failing to report to change of address.
Sergeant Stanly Rodwell filed a felony warrant for his arrest. Scott said McManus, of Roanoke Rapids, could still be in the area.
The felony charge, according to the statement, is based on the requirement all registered sex offenders must report any address changes to the sheriff of the county in which they were last registered.
Johnson, of the Enfield area, is wanted for the same charge as McManus.
Scott said Johnson tends to travel between Enfield and Rocky Mount.
Anyone with information on their whereabouts is encouraged to contact the sheriff’s office at 252-583-1991 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
Arrested
Meanwhile, the sheriff’s office arrested the following:
Chaz Deven Martin, 23, on a felony fugitive warrant from Ohio.
Martin was indicted in Ohio on two counts of sex offense charges and is currently registered on the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry.
He was arrested on July 15 and is currently incarcerated at the Halifax County Jail under a $50,000 bond. He was scheduled to appear in court today.
Darrell Earl Lynch, of the Scotland Neck area.
Rodwell charged Lynch with the violation of failing to report new address to sheriff’s office.
Lynch was arrested on June 10 and is awaiting a July 27 trial date.
Rodwell charged Samuel Ellis Richardson, of the Enfield area, with the violation of failing to report new address to sheriff’s office.
Lynch was arrested on July 6 and is awaiting an August 24 trial date.
