The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Captain Bobby Martin:

Monday, July 11 2016
At approximately 1:45 p.m., Officer C. R. Cross arrested Brittany Pearson, 24, of Roanoke Rapids, on an outstanding warrant for damage to personal property. She was charged and brought before the magistrate. She received a $500 bond and July 26 court date.
At approximately 11:47 p.m., Master Officer Roy Ball arrested Darryl Griffin, 32, of Roanoke Rapids, on outstanding orders for arrest from Nash County.
The orders for arrest were for two counts of failure to appear and two counts driving while license revoked.
Ball located Griffin at Eleventh and Cedar streets. He received a $500 bond and August 8 court date.
Tuesday, July 12 2016
At approximately 1:38 p.m., Officer Natara Velazquez arrested Verinica Arrington, 45, of Roanoke Rapids, on an outstanding warrant for trespassing.
Officer Velazquez initiated a traffic stop in the area of Tenth Street near Carolina Avenue.
Upon following up on the driver, Velazquez discovered Arrington had an outstanding warrant for her arrest.
Arrington was taken into custody and brought before the magistrate where she received a $1,000 bond a July 22 court date.
Wednesday, July 13 2016
At approximately 11:16 p.m., Officer Alex Green observed two pickups in the area of Fourteenth Street and Roanoke Avenue driving in an erratic manner.
Green followed the two vehicles and initiated a traffic stop in the parking lot of Presto.
While speaking with the driver of the truck, Green detected the odor of alcohol and found items indicating the use of alcohol.
Green arrested Josh Turner, 21, of Jackson, for DWI. Turner was carried before the magistrate and placed under a $500 bond with an August 13 court date.
Lieutenant Jeff Baggett assisted.
At approximately 12:39 a.m., Green responded to a call of a man lying in the roadway at the intersection of highways 158 and 48.
Green attempted to wake the person several times before they opened their eyes. Green requested EMS assistance.
The person, Donte Caudle, 33, of Roanoke Rapids, had an outstanding warrant for possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and possession of marijuana up to a half-ounce.
Marijuana,cocaine and crack cocaine was discovered in his possession.
Green charged Caudle with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
He was jailed on $25,000 bond and given an August 17 court date.
Baggett assisted.
At approximately 6:23 p.m., Officer Patrick Smith arrested Jamaal Benjamin, 37, of Roanoke Rapids.
This arrest stems from an investigation by Investigator Chris Babb in larcenies occurring at a local business.
Through follow-up investigation Babb identified Benjamin as the person allegedly stealing the items.
Smith, along with assistance from Velazquez and Investigator Gorton Williams arrested Benjamin, who was charged with two counts of larceny and possession of stolen goods.
He received a $1,500 and July 20 court date.
Thursday, July 14 2016
At approximately 4:21 p.m., Officer Joey Spragins arrested Tonya Sanders, 35, of Roanoke Rapids.
This arrest stemmed from an investigation by Officer Scott Blythe into items stolen from Walmart.
Blythe encountered her in June on an unrelated matter and learned she was in possession of fishing equipment possibly stolen from the store.
Walmart confirmed the property was theirs.
Spragins found Sanders and arrested her.
She was carried before the magistrate and served with warrants for larceny and possession of stolen goods.
She was placed under a $1,000 bond and given an August 12 court date.
Cross assisted.
At approximately 8:20 p.m., Officer J.T. Mason responded to a larceny call at Walmart.
Mason discovered a 14-year-old girl in the parking lot. Investigation revealed she took $90 worth of makeup.
Juvenile petitions will be filed for larceny and possession of stolen goods.
At approximately 9:54 p.m., Mason responded to the area of Third Avenue on an attempted breaking and entering call.
Martavius Clements, 18, of Roanoke Rapids, was spotted running after 911 was called.
Mason was shown pry marks where Clements was reportedly trying to gain entry into the home.
Baggett and Sergeant M. Moseley were in the area assisting Mason when two prowler calls in the area of Chockoyotte Street came out.
Officers found several items believed to be used in the attempted breaking and entering in the area.
Clements was arrested and charged with attempted breaking and entering, possession of burglary tools and resist public officers.
He received a $5,000 bond and August 17 court date.
