He said agents and Halifax County Sheriff's Office investigators are still trying to determine details of the shooting, who the intended target of the shooting was and whether it was a so-called home invasion case.
The victim in the shooting did not sustain life-threatening injuries, he said.
Clements
The man arrested on cocaine and marijuana charges, Hakeem Clements, was not the shooting victim, Harris said.
The events which led to Clements' arrest, Harris said in a statement on the matter, began when deputies responded to the Rickey Lane residence after receiving a report someone was shot.
During the investigation, the sheriff's office received information the victim was being treated for a gunshot wound at a local medical facility.
A search warrant was applied for and granted.
Harris said drugs were in plain view and officers noticed casings from the shooting.
In the statement Harris said during the search of the residence cocaine, marijuana, several items of drug paraphernalia and several items consistent with the shooting were collected.
Sergeant M. Brown of the sheriff's office arrested Clements, 26, of Roanoke Rapids, and charged him with maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, felony possession of cocaine, possess marijuana up to one-half ounce, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana.
Clements received a $7,500 bond with a May 25 court date.
Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to call Detective B.C. Griffin, who declined to immediately comment on the matter, at 252-583-8201 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
