Teen arrested on financial card theft counts

An Enfield teen was arrested Wednesday stemming from an investigation into an ATM card theft the previous day.

Major Scott Hall of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said in a statement Deputy Bo Thompson responded to a call of a theft from a motor vehicle on Watson Street Tuesday.

The deputy developed Montavis Lamont Jones, 18, as the alleged suspect in the case after learning the card was used at a local ATM.

Jones was arrested and charged with breaking and entering a motor vehicle; financial card theft and obtaining property by false pretense.

He received a $10,000 secured bond and January 20 court date.

No other details were immediately available.
