Buffaloe to challenge Hux in county commissioners race

Contested races in the March 15 primary are shaping up.

Incumbent Michael Wray of Gaston will face competition from Franklin D. Williams of Weldon in the state house District 27 race, according to the latest filings requested from the Halifax County Board of Elections.

Incumbent District 3 Halifax County Board of Commissioner Rachel Hux will face competition from Terry Buffaloe, who ran an unsuccessful campaign for city council, challenging the seat of incumbent Carol Cowen.

In other filings:

Christie Avens is seeking the register of deeds office.

Incumbent Teresa Robinson Freeman has filed to retain her seat as District 6 North Carolina District Judge.

Incumbent Vershenia Moody has filed to retain her seat as District 6 North Carolina District Judge.

Incumbent Turner Stephenson III has filed to retain his seat as District 6 North Carolina District Judge seat.

Incumbent Charles Hedgepeth has filed for the Halifax County School Board.

Incumbent Angela Bryant has filed for the state Senate District 4 seat.

Filing continues through December 21.
