A morning drug bust today resulted in the arrest of a Roanoke Rapids man and the confiscation of marijuana and cocaine.

The arrest of 27-year-old Deontrae Bachum Harvey was the result of a month-long investigation into community complaints and officer observation in the Smith Drive area off Davie School Road.

City County Drug Task Force Agent D.J. Hundley said in a statement agents and members of the Hazardous Entry and Arrest Team executed a search warrant at the residence with assistance from task force Lieutenant H.G. Phillips and his dog Josh.

The raid, which occurred around 8:15 a.m., resulted in the seizure of 42.6 grams of marijuana and 6.1 grams of cocaine, along with numerous items of paraphernalia.

Hundley charged Harvey with felony possession of cocaine; felony possession of marijuana; maintaining a vehicle, dwelling or place for a controlled substance; possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. He was also served two outstanding orders for arrest.

Harvey received a $7,500 secured bond and November 25 court date.

Citizens are encouraged to call Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444 to report any drug activity.
