An anonymous donor has provided the Weldon Police Department with $2,000 to serve as a reward in the April 6 fatal shootings of a Weldon woman and Garysburg man.
“The Weldon Police Department would like to thank the anonymous citizen for this generous act and hopes this will help in the apprehension of the suspect (or suspects) involved in the tragic crime,” Chief Christopher Davis said in a statement this morning.
Davis declined to elaborate this morning on the relationship between the donor and the victims in the case — Levita Romane Webb, 41, and Dexter O’Neal Miles, 52.
He said investigators, which include assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation — have received leads in the case but nothing concrete thus far.
Motive in the case remains unknown, he said.
A third victim who was shot remains hospitalized.
The shooting occurred shortly after 1:30 a.m. at Webb’s residence in the 400 block of Chestnut Street, Davis said at the time.
The police department said Webb and Miles were found inside the residence while the third victim was found down the street in the general area after fleeing.
Officers arrived at the location of the shooting and learned three people had been shot.
Webb and Miles were pronounced dead at the scene.
