The Roanoke Rapids High School swim team traveled to Rocky Mount Thursday December 8th. for their first swim meet of the season.
As a combined team, the men and women won with an overall score of 188points. As individual teams, the women won 4th place with 70 points and the men won first place with 118 points. Both teams performed well and many events qualified for the Regional Meet in January.
For the men, the 200 IM Medley Relay with Hunter Sparks, Brandall Coggins,
Regan Taylor and Matthew MacNichol placed 1st with a time of 1:52.83 qualifying for Regionals. Matthew MacNichol won first place in 50 Free with a 23.78 and Hunter Sparks placed 3rd with 24.87. Regan Talor won first place in the 200 Free with a 1:57.17. Austin Fender won the 100 Butterfly and Mikey Hartson won the 500 Free. Brandall Coggins placed 2nd in the 100 Breast Stroke.
First year swimmer, Casey Neal placed 3rd in the 50 Free with 30.79 and anchored all the relays for the women. Avery Qualls placed 2nd in the Breast Stroke. Alyssa Duncan and Natalie Baker placed 7th and 8th in the 50 Free and were in all the women's relays.
