The Roanoke Rapids High School Varsity Yellow Jackets Baseball team defeated Farmville Central by a score of 10-0 in the second round of the Ray Avery Easter Tournament at Ayden-Grifton High School on Monday afternoon.

Josh Elias picked up the win for the Yellow Jackets pitching a complete game shutout giving up only 2 hits while striking out 3 batters.

RRHS got on the scoreboard first with five runs in the bottom of the first inning.  Cameron Rogerson and Hunter Connell came home on a double from Marcus Allen.  Allen then scored on a double from Colby Warren.  Warren then scored as part of double steal with Aaron Jackson.  Jackson then scored on an RBI groundout from Tyler Liverman.

The Yellow Jackets added three more runs in the bottom of the third inning.  Marcus Allen scored on a single from Josh Elias.  Aaron Jackson then scored on a fielders choice from Tyler Liverman.  Liverman then scored on a single from Bracy Irby.

RRHS ended the game with two final runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.  Tyler Shearin led off the inning with a homerun blast over the left field fence.  The game ended by the mercy rule when Jacob Rooker came home to score on a single from Peyton Jackson.

Coach Mark Snead stated, "This was another complete game from our team.  Josh pitched a great game and our defense played well behind him.  On offense we had 14 hits from 11 different players.  We have played well in the tournament so far and hopefully we can finish strong on the third and final day tomorrow.  I know the guys will be ready and come out strong again and give us a chance to bring home the title."

RRHS improves to 14-3 overall on the season with the win.  The Yellow Jackets will finish out the tournament by playing Pamlico County at 7pm on Tuesday night.
