The #7 seed Roanoke Rapids High School Lady Yellow Jackets basketball team moved from the sweet sixteen to the Elite eight in the 2 A NCHSAA State playoffs with a road win Saturday night.

Regional Semifinals (Elite 8 in the State).  Roanoke Rapids last girls basketball team to advance this far was in 1998.

The Lady Yellow Jackets stung the Hertford County Bears in Ahoskie Saturday night with a 62-48 win. 

Leading scorers  for the Lady Jackets were, Ella King with four three pointers and a total of twenty-two points. Rylie Wade had sixteen points, followed by Skyler Wade with 8 points, Kylie Wade had 7 points, Logan Abrams had 4 points while Suanna Odom and Shaniyah Daniels each had 2 points.

The #7 seed Yellow Jackets (17-2) will travel to #3 seed Farmville Central (25-4) Tuesday March1st With a 6pm tip-off and $9 admission due to a boys game following the girls.
