Weldon man faces attempted B&E counts

A 65-year-old Weldon man faces three counts associated with attempted residential break-ins, according to town police Chief James Avens.

Roanoke Valley law enforcement reported the following arrests:

In September, James Avens will celebrate 16 years in law enforcement.

Weldon police chief and Town Administrator Mark Macon tendered his resignation from both positions Monday.

Lieutenant Christopher Davis of the Weldon Police Department was recently recognized by the North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program as Law Enforcement County Coordinator of the Year for Region 4.

Woman in Waffle House outburst charged

A woman who reportedly caused an outburst and damaged items at Waffle House last week is scheduled to appear in court next month to answer to charges lodged by the Weldon Police Department.

Charges are pending an evaluation after a woman broke items, blocked employees from exiting and customers from entering a Weldon restaurant early this morning.

Cocaine trafficking charges were lodged against a Weldon man this morning following execution of a search warrant in the 300 block of Elm Street.
