HCSO detectives investigating evening murder

Halifax County Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating a murder which occurred this evening in the Halifax Township area.

Federal court proceedings will be rescheduled for Ian Barkley Coles after his weapons case was assigned to another judge Wednesday.

KIPP Halifax gets donation for reading program

There was cause for celebration at KIPP Halifax today, a $12,500 donation for its library and kudos from two organizations recognizing its position as the best performing middle school in the county.

Roanoke Rapids police are looking for three people who reportedly filled up a shopping cart with dog food and diapers and left Walmart without paying for the items Wednesday afternoon.

Complaints lead to marijuana counts on Strip

Investigation of complaints about drug activity of an area just outside Weldon called The Strip led to the arrest of a man on marijuana counts this evening.

A recently formed drug task force encompassing Bertie, Hertford and Northampton counties is reporting its first arrests.

PD seeks info on clothing larceny

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department is investigating the larceny of clothes from Walmart around 3:30 Friday afternoon.

Each year, the annual New Year’s Choir Fellowship at First Baptist Church of Hodgestown has an offering to benefit charities around the area.
