Anthony Moody sentenced to 7-years fed time

His brother already sentenced to six years in June, Anthony Tyrone Moody today in Greenville received an 84-month federal sentence for conspiracy to distribute and possess at least 5 kilograms of cocaine.

Active shooter drill planned at RRHS

The Roanoke Rapids Graded School District along with the Roanoke Rapids Police Department, fire department, and public works will participate in a full-scale exercise simulating an armed intruder inside Roanoke Rapids High School.

Child injured following gun mishap

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department is investigating to determine a how a shotgun was knocked over and fired, striking a 7-year-old child late Monday night.

With the closing of the Enfield Safelite windshield manufacturing plant made official through a corporate news release as well as confirmed through a memo from the Halifax County Economic Development Commission, the county is working to help employees who will be displaced by its closing as well as begin an effort to find a new company to occupy the building.

Safelite closing Enfield plant


A trade publication covering the auto glass industry reports Safelite AutoGlass will close its plant in Enfield.

For the second time in two days, a Halifax County Sheriff’s Office sergeant made a traffic stop which led to the seizure of heroin in the Scotland Neck area.

Three more people have been arrested in an alleged conspiracy to bring a Halifax County Detention Center inmate drugs.
