Roanoke Rapids police say the owners of a business broken into last month estimate between $17,000 to $18,000 worth of merchandise was stolen in the crime.

An Enfield man who allegedly broke-in and stole from a local convenience store, including its cash register, was arrested today after a four-month investigation.

Throughout the fall, students in the Halifax County School System have been offered locally grown collard greens on the lunch line.
